Dermaplaning

How are you all doing and coping with lockdown?  For me its given me the chance to get things done that were on my “To Do” list.  One of those things was adding Dermaplaning to my Treatment Menu. I’ve dermaplaned my own face for a long time now as my skin was just too sensitive for waxing or facial removal creams, then my make-up would always look patchy.   Since Dermaplaning , make-up goes on so much smoother and I love it so I wanted to be able to offer it on a Professional Level and now I can.

So What is Dermaplanning?

Dermaplaning is an effective and safe exfoliation procedure.  It uses a sterile surgical scalpel to shave the surface of the skin to remove excess dead skin and peach fuzz hairs. Benefits include

  • Provides deeper product penetration
  • Removes soft facial hair that traps dirt and oils
  • Promotes smoother skin
  • Safe procedure for removing dead skin cells and “peachfuzz”
  • Reduces the appearance of acne scars
  • Diminishes the look of fine lines
  • Works on all skin types
  • Instant results and no downtime

Treatment is finished with a 24k Gold Face mask to help firm, lift, brighten and calm the appearance of the skin while providing and opulent glow.

Dermaplaning Myths Busted !!!

1.Dermaplaning will cause your hair to grow back darker!!!
This is a total myth, Your hair will grow back exactly the same colour and thickness as it was previously. You can’t change the structure of your hair follicle by simply shaving your hair off.
2. Dermaplaning Will Cause Your Hair To Grow Back Thicker !!!!!
When you dermaplane, you are removing very, very fine hair called vellus hair. so that means that once the hair has fully grown back in, it will look and feel exactly the same as before.

3 . Dermaplaning Will Cause Breakouts!!!
Not only will dermaplaning not cause breakouts, it will actually prevent them from happening. By exfoliating the dead skin it will help to keep your skin clear. It will also allow for much better product penetration.

4. You can just do it at home with a Razor!!!!
Dermaplaning instead involves using a specialist scalpel tool to remove hair, just like a razor, but the scalpel is used to also remove layers of dead skin, and it is applied in a such a way that it is totally pain free, and wont result in those itchy shaving rashes, irritation, or pimples.

Updating my Content!!! Getting things done!!!

As we all seem to have a lot of time on our hands, Ive been using this time to try and get some of the admin jobs done that I always seem to put off or never find time to.

The last couple of days I’ve been pretty busy posting and updating my content.

Press on Nails is a very popular topic in the nail world right now. In fact this morning, I was just painting a set ready to take to the post office to post off tomorrow.

IMG_3360

If you would like to shop my Press on Nails , I sell through Etsy or through my own website.

https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/BeautStoreCo?ref=search_shop_redirect

https://www.beautbytina.co.uk/press-on-nails

I have also been creating videos about Press on Nails on my You Tube channel , videos about Products to start a press on nails business, and my latest one was all about press on nail tips.  I do love You Tube and I spend hours on it every night so now contributing to it and others finding my content useful and helpful gives me a good feeling. If you want to check out my channel, heres the link and whilst your there I would appreciate if you could also Subscribe to my channel.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-_EV2eUCQQOeDaBFG9ynFg?disable_polymer=true

I also filmed a video to post to my Facebook page and Instagram for my clients just explaining what Press on nails actually are.

Oh and another thing I done is I set up some Online Gift Cards available to purchase through my Online Booking Portal, this was something that Ive been meaning to do for a while.

After some advise from one of my friends, yesterday I decided to launch an online raffle on my pages. its the first time I’ve ever done anything like this, I’m half way there with the numbers being sold and I hope I can actually complete it.  My prizes are a free gel polish application (obviously once we are allowed again), 2nd prize is a selection of goodies from a foot mask, face mask, hand cream and cuticle oil. Last prize is a £10 gift card.

I’ve now spent most of this afternoon updating some content on my website. I’ve refreshed my homepage, making it more readable, aligning columns . I’ve added some content to my Press on Nail pages like the video I created for facebook. and i’ve just followed an SEO guide and updated all the page descriptions for all my pages , optimising them for Google search. I’ve also linked my website to a Google account. (apparently that helps). I updated all my social media links on my website also.

Just before writing this post, which may be the last thing I do for today before I start cooking I also updated some info on my Google Places page, theres a COVID19 part that needs updating and I also added a product listing for my Press on Nails.

I feel like I’ve had quite a productive couple of days. I mean things always pop into my head that I need to do, if I can’t physically do them at the time I have a planner and I write lists in there of things that I want to do. I must say I do like a list.

I almost forgot to mention – I also updated my cover pictures for my Instagram Stories folders.

I’ve signed up to some Online Learning courses so I’ve got plenty more to keep me busy – I will save all that for another post about what I’m learning ……

If theres anything you have done that you have found helpful that you think I should do then comment below I would love to hear it.

Luxury Press On Nails

IMG_2702

The world is Crazy right now, with this virus going around the world we are all in Lockdown , business’ are closing , nobody can work unless they are a key worker. So what that means for us in the Nail and Beauty Industry is that we cannot work.

I wanted to be able to find a way to generate some income from my business whilst it was closed as Im not eligible for any business grants.

I’ve been wanting to do Press on Nails for a while , I always saw them online and they always appealed to me. Yes your going to have clients that want their nails done but then there is a different market out there of people (I won’t just say Ladies) that Press on Nails appeal to.  I really miss doing nails and now that Im sat at home doing nothing I thought this was the perfect time to launch this side of my business that I always wanted to do.

I’ve obviously got all the nail tools already but I needed to purchase some additional items to be able to start offering Press On Nails.  I headed over to amazon and bought some items to get me started. I even filmed a You Tube Video (another hobby of mine) to help other people get started. A lot of the videos already on You Tube were based in the States so wanted to create a video that would relate to the UK Nail Techs out there. Here is a link to the video if you wanted to watch it.

I’ve got the supplies, Ive even painted a couple of sets of nails. I posted on my Instagram, Facebook  and updated my website to showcase to any potential Clients , I even sent out a newsletter.

Subscribe to My Newsletter

I’m sat here now at home dying to get on with orders and start designing some nails , but so far I’ve not had any orders!!!  I thought it would be a lot easier than this. I thought people would come flocking to me , and orders would be coming out of my ears, but boy was I wrong. I know its a hard time for a lot of people and spending money on nails probably isn’t on the top of their priority list.  So I thought what else can I do??

I already have a little Etsy Shop where I was selling my Nail Polish Enamel Pin, so thought I would post some items on there. I’ve just finished uploading my Listings ,including some additional items for purchase like the Nail Glue and Prep Kits. I’m sure that I will have to go and do some amendments.

I still actually need to measure all my nails that I have and create images for people to be able to see whats on offer when I say Short Oval for example so I will be doing that this afternoon.

I’m considering even listing on Ebay so will take a look on their site and see if they have any Listing Offers. Will probably be a job for some point this week so I will keep you updated on that if I do it.

Heres a Link to my Etsy Shop if you want to take a look:

Hyaluron Pen – “no needle” filler !!

Really!!!!  Yes Really !!  A filler with no needle plus it doesn’t hurt !

So What actually is a Hyaluron Pen?

hyaluronic-pen-black-gold

The Hyaluron Pen is a rather simplistic , yet extremely useful device that allows enough pressure to launch Hyaluronic Acid mixture into human skin without the use of traditional needles or injections. It can be used:

  • To create volume, shape and lift on
  • Lips
  • Nasolabial lines
  • Marionette lines
  • 11 lines
  • Forehead wrinkles

The Hyaluron pen is safe to use and is non invasive. It deposits hyaluronic acid filler into the epidermal and upper dermal layers of the skin. No risk of occlusion as no needles are used so no possibility to puncture blood vessels.

Ideal for clients that are frightened or uncomfortable with needles, this pain free treatment is less invasive and fast, and allows clients to plump and fill their lips, fine lines and wrinkles.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

So I’ve mentioned Hyaluronic acid but what is it. Its a natural sugar found in the human body and is the most hydrating substance in the world. Its function is to attract water and keep skin hydrated, plump and youthful. As we age, Hyaluronic Acid and collagen fibres decrease, they dry up and become thinner, resulting in loss of hydration and elasticity. This causes skin to sag and wrinkle.   By adding Hyaluronic Acid back into the skin we revive the collagen and promote a fresher, plumper effect.

Here is a picture of me after I had my lips done with the Hyaluron Pen!

nyCDC8J3T7GQcIRA39XUggIMG_0166

The minimum you can have when booking in for this treatment is 1ml of filler. Its then up to you if you want all the 1ml in your lips or you could even put half in the lips and use half to even out those facial lines. Of course you can have more than 1 ml , but its recommended to have at least 2 weeks apart so not to overfill your lips with filler in one go.

If coming for a Hyaluron Pen treatment there are some things you must do beforehand so ensure that you get the most out of the treatment. As mentioned earlier Hyaluronic Acid is a hydrating substance so if you are dehydrated rather than the filler filling those lips your body will take it in so it is essential that before coming for this treatment for a few days before you are drinking plenty of water, that way your body and your lips are hydrated. Make sure those lips are not dry, use a lip balm and keep the lips moist. I would also avoid caffeine to reduce the chance of bleeding.

How long does this treatment last?

It will last just as long as traditional filler! The average duration being 4-6 months, however your lifestyle will have a factor in the longevity of this natural product.

For optimum results, I recommend a course of 4-6 treatments. Once you complete the recommended course, the results can last from 12-18 months

Who cannot have the treatment?

The procedure most definitely can not be done to pregnant women, hyper-sensitive people and oral herpes should be treated before the procedure. The filler I use has lidocaine in it so if the client is allergic to that thats also and go.

What is the difference between the Hyaluron Pen and filler injections?

These two belong in different universes that overlap only a tiny bit .  Namely, fillers are injections that can have a large effect on the overall look of the human face. The thicker the filler is, the deeper it is injected and the larger and usually also permanent the effect is. When it comes to Hyaluron Pen the fillers that can be used are very liquid and can only be inserted to the upper layer of dermis – Papillary dermis. This means that it only competes with a small category of HA fillers that do the same thing. While being limited when it comes to deeper or subnormal injections (where filler injections are used to achieve results), Hyaluron Pen pretty much dominates in its own category because of its ease of use.

Treatment Advantages:

  • The Hyaluronic fillers are 100% natural.
  • No needles
  • No pain
  • 100% natural
  • 100% safe
  • Instant results
  • No downtime – no hiding away while you await your beauty bruises to disappear!

Amazon Haul for the Salon

So it’s been a while since I’ve last blogged, my life is just always so hectic but I really want to get into being on here more regularly.

In the last few days I’ve also managed to upload 2 videos to You Tube, so I’m trying to be consistent in uploading content.

My most recent video which I’ve literally just hit Publish on is an Amazon for the Salon Video. I love Amazon and am always shopping on there so thought I would record a video showing what I have in my home salon from Amazon . You can view the video here : https://youtu.be/N1ZqOJ-xgz0

Items include window Blinds, towels, folders for nail storage and organisation of nail foils and stickers / decals, nail draw organisers, tweezers, lash tape, cuticle oil pens.

If you haven’t got time to watch the video. I will link my purchases down below so you can view them for yourself from Amazon. I think my favourite products are the folders . All my nail foils are now so organised by colour and I can now clearly find what I have. Same with my nail stickers, as previously mentioned in other blogs, I always shop on Ali Express etc so I had a lot of nail stickers, they were just in bundles and you could never clearly see what you had. Thanks to my new folder which I purchased from Amazon they are all now clearly visible, organised and all in one place. I love it.

If there’s anything you would like me to show you in more detail then please comment and let me know. I will link my purchases below, but …… Until next time !!!

Enamel Pins are Here !!!! now available …

Hey All!!

I just wanted to come on here and update you as my Nail Polish Enamel Pins finally arrived yesterday . I love them .

https://etsy.me/2XjociV

They turned out so much better than expected.

They are so shiny and beautiful. I can’t believe that I actually designed my own pins and I now physically have them .

I love Pink so I produced them in a pink bottle with a Rose Gold outline. They are 1.3 inches tall.

Straight away I’ve naturally taken one for myself and put it straight into my work lanyard, I might even take another one to wear on my work apron or top for when I’m actually doing nails in my salon . , lol

When you order one they will come on a backing card , packaged inside a Pink organza bag . They also have one of those pink rubber backs so there’s no way your losing this pin !!

If you want to order one , I’ve priced them at a reasonable price of just £7.00 plus postage .

I created an Etsy store where you can head over to purchase one if you want to get your hands on one :

https://etsy.me/2XjociV

So if you want one here’s the link again to Etsy, I hope you love them as much as I do.

Ali Express and Cute

I’m addicted to buying anything related to Nails. My clients can probably vouch for this by the amount of Gel polish colours and Nail art supplies that I have in my little home salon.

I first came across the App called “Cute”. This is an App powered by Wish, but it’s basically just all Beauty and Nail related. Items start as low as Free (although I find that postage does cost more on these items). The best are £1 items plus £1 shipping. It’s unbelievable that they can sell and post items at these prices and they are making profit from them. They are coming from Asia so make sure you are in no rush for them. Average postage time you can expect about 3 weeks but I have waited 6 weeks and in a couple of occasions even longer.

Despite this I find it so addictive. When I’m bored browsing Social Media, I find myself browsing Cute and Ali Express instead and before you know it I’ve spent £30 and more.

I buy items like Nail Gems, nail foils, arty bits basically and have recently started buying my beauty essentials from there as well such as nail wipes , cotton buds etc.

I’d heard of Ali Express but for some reason always thought this was a wholesale site. Once I started browsing this site and realised it wasn’t , this became my next addiction. I find that on this site there’s so much more option and you can actually search for what you want.

Ive recently started filming “You Tube” Nail & Beauty Haul Videos as I love watching them. Ive linked my ones below if you want to watch them to see what I got:

https://youtu.be/30Tb8M6ApBE

https://youtu.be/VlHcQLUQgsQ

Just a quick word of warning before I go, things can be hit or miss when buying from these sites. Watching Haul videos you soon learn what to avoid, and when you see branded Gel Polish brands on there for a £1, they are clearly not the real thing. They are fakes and god knows what’s in those products so just be careful but for the fun things spend away, you will love it.

Until Next Time. Xx

I’m so excited!! Enamel Pin

I just had to come on here as I’ve had a delivery today and I’m so excited .

My backing cards for my Enamel Pins have arrived . This means I’m one step closer to my pins being released.

I’ve also ordered all the packaging and pretty Organza bags so they need to arrive .

Hopefully in the next couple of weeks my Pins will arrive and I can Pin them to these backing cards and finally release them for sale. I plan to sell on my Facebook groups and on Etsy . I hope they do well as I’m already planning my design for my next pin but I will only go ahead with that if this one does well.

If you want to stay up to date with my Enamel Pin Progress you can also follow me on my new Instagram that I created for it:

https://www.instagram.com/beautstoreco/

Here’s a peak what the card will look like with the pin attached although this isn’t exactly the final design of the pin as I didn’t go with the writing .

Shall I give you a peak of the Enamel Pin – ?????

……………….

……………….

Oh go on then !!!! This is the sample picture I was sent by my manufacturer . Let me know what you think?

Using Different Nail Brands – Should we??

Should we be dedicated to one brand in our business?

When Gel polish first started entering the Nail industry I was using Nsi as my Gel and Acrylic Brand so automatically I chose their Gel polish Brand ‘Polish Pro’ to try. I was amazed by it. I only bought the one colour – Red.  I loved how I could paint over my acrylics and instantly my nail polish was dry and no longer would I get bed print on my nails.

Then I discovered Shellac. There was such a hype over this brand. I tried it and I loved it. The shine was amazing.  The NSI polish pro just couldn’t compare. From then on all my future purchases were Shellac. I was dedicated to the brand. I had all the latest collections and would even queue for hours at the Professional Beauty shows to get my hands on them first.

img_2282
Client posing with Shellac
img_2780
Queuing to purchase the latest Shellac shades!

As time went on, Shellac would release more colours but I found it was much of the same. Similar colours with a slight change of difference in tone. I stopped getting excited over the colours. I needed something more.

More brands were coming out of the woodwork with their own versions of ‘Gel Polish’ so I felt the need to try something else. Something that Shellac just wasn’t offering. I went with ‘Gel 2’ as they had Reaction Gels. Gels that changed colour from hot to cold.  Just Amazing. I also bought some ‘Gelish’ colours as their colours were so bright and vibrant, shades I just couldn’t get from Shellac.

img_1033
A set I created using the Gel2 Reaction Gels.

I still have my Shellac gels, some of them anyway that have lasted. But now I mainly use the brand ‘iLac’ from Ink London. When I discovered their gels I loved their range of colours too. The polish painted beautifully and the price point was great too. My clients actually even got better wear from it that I was getting better results.

I don’t think you should keep still with your brands. To keep your clients excited about what you have to offer I believe that you should always look to find that next thing for them. As time has gone on I thought, right, so Ive got nudes, reaction gels, brights I need something more!!!

I then discovered ‘Diamond Glitter Gels’ from The Gel Bottle. The sparkle you get compared to loose glitter was intense. I needed more. I found more from brands like Madam Glam, Halo and Premier Gel so they have been added to my collection too. Whilst browsing at Madam Glam I also discovered their Metallic Gel Polishes so I have a couple of those as well.  I’ve probably got a couple of other random brands that I haven’t even remembered ??

img_1279
Selection of my colour choices. A lot more have been added since this picture was taken.

Semilac was a brand I found at one of the shows where I bought their ‘Cat eye gels’ – again something that not every brand can give you so you have to go to another brand to get it.

img_2300
This set along with the Red /Black Ombre , I used the Green Cat Eye Gel Polish

Morale of this story – you can’t stick to one brand if you want to offer something more to your clients, if you want that next thing you have to go out there and try it. You will get stuck in a rut and behind the times if you don’t try something different and brands should also take this on board,  they need to up their game if they want to stay ahead of the competition. Twice a year that I attend the trade shows my clients get as excited as me as they know that I’m going there to look for something new to bring home and they can’t wait to see what it is – and that’s what it’s all about.

I can’t wait to see what the next thing will be.

Until next time. Xx

Working from a Cabin in these Windy conditions 💨

It’s been a hell of a windy day here in Bedfordshire , gusts up to 43knots ( I speak airline lingo not mph, lol).

Working from a log cabin in the back of my garden you have to put up with all types of weather conditions. In the Summer its too hot, in the Winter it’s too cold, when it rains all you hear is it pounding on the roof and on days like today I sit in my cabin scared that the roof is going to blow off or that we are literally going to lift off like Dorothy.

Back when we had Storm Doris the roof literally did almost blow away (I’ll attach some pictures).

Today luckily (or not?) I only had the one appointment in my salon, I was only in there for over an hour this afternoon for a Lash Lift & Tint. The walls were literally shaking and the door was bashing about . When those gusts of wind pick up I think is it going to be this time that’s going to tear the wall down. A few times me and my client gasped with the words “oh my god” . I try not to worry my clients and tell them that the salon has survived a lot worse and that it just sounds a lot worse in there as after all we are stood in a wooden building.

Deep down it worries me that the older the building gets the less it will be able to withstand these extreme weather conditions. I know when the salons been through a bad night when I go in there the next morning and find tools and products all over the floor and table from where the walls have been shaking in the night.

I’d be interested to know if others that work from log cabins if you experience the same as me?

Anyway I Can’t wait for Spring !! (but that does fetch the frogs out 😩)

Until next time!! Xx
